Steinbicker Family Dentistry uses composite fillings for patients that need a tooth restored due to decay or trauma. White fillings look more like natural teeth and actually bond the tooth together as opposed to amalgam fillings.
White Fillings and Bonding • Mebane, NC
White fillings generally take one visit. First, we prep or prepare the tooth by removing all decay and cleaning the tooth. We then etch the tooth and apply bonding or adhesive. Lastly, the composite is placed carefully. Afterwards, the filling is shaped to the correct form and occlusion so that your bite is correct.
Sensitivity after a filling has been completed is normal particularly when someone has had a deep restoration (decay, a break, or a fracture close to the tooth’s nerve). Sensitivity normally improves over the course of a couple weeks, but can last longer with big fillings.
To take care of your filling, a patient should go to the dentist regularly, brush twice a day, floss once a day, and eat a well-balanced diet. Mebane dentist Dr. Steinbicker highly recommends white fillings, particularly in areas where patients are seeking the best esthetic result.
